Feasibility Study and Design for a New Water Supply in Northeast Groningen

Client: Waterbedrijf Groningen

Region: Groningen

Timeline: 2016-Present

Waterbedrijf Groningen has been developing a new 42-kilometer water pipeline in Northeast Groningen. This project involves laying five different mediums in the same trench across predominantly agricultural land, requiring close coordination with farmers, roadway authorities, the province, and other stakeholders.

Northeast Groningen

For seven different routes, Rotterdam Engineering conducted a feasibility study. The options were thoroughly discussed with LTO Nederland and other stakeholders to ensure broad support for the chosen solution. Afterward, we proceeded with the detailed design and supported Waterbedrijf Groningen in obtaining all the necessary permits. We carefully considered the water company’s management philosophy and provided tailored advice on the various possibilities for materials, technology, and design.

  • We also provided stakeholders with comprehensive reports of our multi-criteria analyses, which we confidently presented during discussions with LTO Nederland.
  • Rotterdam Engineering coordinated the collaboration between Waterbedrijf Groningen, Antea Group, and land managers, to ensure the smooth progress of the project.
"Our approach always starts with: What is the client's perspective? From there, we offer various expert solutions. We also give contractors maximum flexibility in execution to apply the best working methods. Together, we achieve the best, optimal design."
